7th Grade Class and Homework

Great Day!
I really enjoyed getting to know everyone and am looking forward to a great year!
We will spend the next few days getting to know each other and the classroom rules and procedures. Ask your kids about the point system and what they can earn!!
I sent home an about me page and a parent information sheet. Please fill out as much information as you can give me and return it with your child to school. I will use this website for communication as well as email and phone. I am a middle school parent myself, so I know how important it is to communicate directly :)

1/17/17 - LA- Test on sentences this Thursday!
1/18/17 - SS - Group project questions worksheet if not finished
1/18/17 - LA - STUDY for sentences test!!!!!
1/19/17 - No homework for SS or LA
- We started on the Americanism Essay(we will be working most of this in class)
1/24/17 - LA - complete the brainstorming page
1/27/17 - LA - Rough draft for Americanism Essay is due Monday 1/30 and final draft will be due Thursday 2/2
2/1/17 - LA - Final copies of the Americanism Essay are due TOMORROW 2/2. I need two printed copies one for me and one for the American Legion. Students also need to turn in their rough draft and outline paper with final copy.
2/3/17 - LA - HW is complete the two possessive nouns worksheets if not finished in class(I gave them plenty of time but when working in partners we sometimes get distracted)
2/6/17 - LA - Worked on direct object, appositive in the objective case. Did exercises 1 and 2 in class(homework if not finished)
2/6/17 - SS - Chapter 5 test tomorrow 2/7
2/8/17 - LA - finish DO, IO, and OP hockey worksheets
2/9/17 - LA - For those that turned in the direct and indirect object homework from Tuesday night the grades were not good. I am giving them another worksheet to try again. We will go over and over this until I feel like everyone understands(Parents the grades you see can change if the student does well on the new worksheet)
2/27/17 - SS - Started Chapter 7 Ancient Egypt - did vocab words, took notes on what they thought chapter would be about using pictures, captions, heading, etc.
LA - Persusasive writing is due tomorrow 2/28! Introduced letter writing and the different parts of a social/informal letter. Practiced writing addresses, salutation, and closings
2/28/17 - SS - Read chapter 7 as a class
LA- Types of social/informal letters students were assigned one of the types and need to write to me using the directions for that type and properly use all the parts of a letter
3/7/17 -SS- Students who got below a 76 on chapter 6 test did a retake. We made maps of Ancient Egypt (will be used for quiz on Friday)
LA - Learned the difference between social and business letter. Wrote letters to either a candy store about a job posting or a shoe company about a shoe order that was messed up. Began talking about prefixes did activity B and C need to finish for HW
3/9/17 - SS - Geography challenge need to finish for homework. Have quiz tomorrow on the map and geography of ancient Egypt, Kush, and Canaan
LA - Started the verbs unit. Took notes and found verbs in brain teasers and Chinese Proverbs
3/13/17 - SS- Started chapter 8 Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs - started notes on old, middle, and new kingdoms
LA- more verbs notes(auxiliary and tenses) Ex. 1 and 2 in class and found verbs in newspapers. HW - WKBK PAGES 45 and 46
3/22/17 - SS - Worked on Pharaohs sheet. Used information from different websites to fill in questions about different pharaohs. Not for homework. We will finish on Friday
LA - Compound verb tenses - Ex. 1 out loud in class together and Ex. 2 homework if not finished
3/27/17 - LA - Verb moods notes and writing and drawing pictures for each of the 5 moods. Began working on workbook pages 58-60 due tomorrow. Verb test on Wednesday 4/5!!
SS - Test tomorrow 3/28! Can use the front of the index card provided to take notes and use for test.
3/28/17 - SS- took test today. Please have student bring in an empty shoe box so we can begin working on our ancient Egyptian sarcophagus
3/30/17 - SS - Started on chapter 9 took notes through 9.4 finish for homework
LA - continued more on subject verb agreement. Ex. 4 and 5 page 391 evens
4/4/17 - SS - Continued to work on sarcophagus project. Will cover boxes tomorrow and begin decorating. Students will bring them home over the weekend to finish. The final project is due 4/13!
LA - Verb test tomorrow. STUDY!!
4/12/17 - SS - Sarcophagus project due TOMORROW 4/13
